Richard L Prass, M.D., Ph.D., a graduate of Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio, completed an internship and an Otolaryngology residency program at The Cleveland Clinic. He then completed a fellowship in Neurotology, Otology, and Skull Base Surgery at the House Ear Clinic in Los Angeles, California. He is board certified in Otolaryngology, and currently serves as a clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at the Eastern Virginia Medical School, in Norfolk. Dr. Prass has a national reputation for contributions and technical innovations in the field of intra-operative facial nerve monitoring for improved preservation of facial nerve function during ear and skull base surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeon, Chairman of the Facial Nerve Committee of the American Neurotology Society, a member of many professional organizations, and author of numerous scientific articles.
His special medical interests include the development of multi disciplinary approaches to the evaluation and treatment of dizziness and imbalance, congenital ear deformities, tumors of the ear and skull base, and facial nerve disorders.
